A little time. A closer look.
The Tokyo National Museum’s collection offers many ways into Japanese and Asian art. Instead of trying to see everything, choose a room and look closely at one object: a vessel, a textile or a carefully worked surface. Displays and room access can change.
Something to notice
Look once before reading the label, then look again afterwards. Notice a join, brushstroke or worn edge. How does a little context change what you see?
A little consideration
Follow each room’s photography signs; some works cannot be photographed. Keep a comfortable distance from cases and other visitors. Leave large luggage elsewhere and check access notices.
A small companion, in full.
