A little time. A closer look.

Ginkaku-ji is known as the Silver Pavilion, although its exterior is not silver-plated. Its garden brings shaped sand, moss and hillside paths together around the modest timber building; ordinary admission is mainly a garden visit.

Something to notice

Look at the pavilion alongside the sand garden, then follow the permitted hillside route if suitable for you.

A little consideration

Stay on garden paths and respect areas closed to ordinary visitors.
