A little time. A closer look.
Fushimi Inari's torii-lined paths lead from the shrine precinct into the wooded slopes of Mount Inari. Begin with the lower grounds and choose how far uphill to continue; this is an active place of worship, not a decorative photo set.
Something to notice
Look for the changes in light between the closely spaced gates. The uphill routes include steps and uneven surfaces.
A little consideration
Keep the route clear, respect worshippers and take litter away.
A small companion, in full.
