A little time. A closer look.
A forest approach leads away from Harajuku towards Meiji Jingu. The long gravel path is part of the visit: let the city’s pace soften before entering the shrine courtyard. The gates follow sunrise and sunset, with times changing each month.
Something to notice
Listen as the sound changes between the station, the torii and the trees. Notice the texture of timber or the pattern of light on the path. What tells you that the pace has changed?
A little consideration
Respect worshippers and follow shrine signs. Photography is prohibited in front of the main shrine where people pray. Eat and drink only in designated areas.
A small companion, in full.
The actual guide, just as it downloads. One PDF, with the same guide in color and monochrome. Print only the page you prefer.
